I believe that I may have found a reason why people don't use trains. At least £200 for two of us to travel to & from Manchester? Looks like it's going to be a road trip then.

Where are you travelling from? I got Virgin first class from London for £38 each way - standard class would have a fair bit less but I decided to treat myself.

Just south of Norwich. I checked NetworkRail, Trainline.com, and a couple of others that seemed to default back to Trainline.com

Redspottedhanky is cheaper. Also consider buying a couples railcard, costs £30 but knocks a third off fares.
