Facebook friends may have seen that I went to see The Polyphonic Spree on Thursday and fell a bit in love with the support band MT. The Spree were class as ever. The venue (East Village Arts Club) was brilliant too. I've been there before when it was The Masque or the Barfly, but only to the smaller rooms upstairs, the sound was great, the lights were fab, the energy was really up as well. www.youtube.com/watch?v=36K2FPtgrtQWho've you seen? Good and bad venues?

I got back from the Lunar Festival late last night where I also saw The Polyphonic Spree, they were fantastic but as is the norm in the last night of a festival I was knackered and couldn't get into it as much as I should've.
Other acts across the weekend were Tim Burgess, British Sea Power, Temples, Donovan (Who I also met), Misty's Big Adventure, Scott Matthews, The Cray World of Arthur Brown and a few others. The weather was great apart from some heavy rain in Saturday morning and the festival site being just a few miles from home made getting back really easy.
On Friday I'm taking my mum to see the Pet Shop Boys for her 65th birthday.

My mum is responsible for my love of all things electro-pop. She was always playing OMD, Pet Shop Boys, Human League etc when I was growing up. They're fantastic live, as well as the songs they put on a choreographed stage show as well, so the visuals are as vital to the concert as the music. Deliberately not looked on YouTube for footage of this tour as I want to be surprised by what they've produced. They'll have their work cut out to top the Pandemonium shows from a few years ago.

I saw the Human League at a festival a few years ago and they were brilliant in fact much better than the headliners. Pet Shop Boys are on my list of bands I really want to see but have never got round to.

Been a bit short of cash so recently went to 2 cheap gigs at the Barfly in London. Saw Chasing Grace, would see them again and also Goldray who are a sort of psychadelic rock band.
