Is anyone crafting at the moment?
I am really enjoying working with felt, I also got my sewing machine back, but have no idea how to thread it. I'll have to get my sister down to show me, she made some wonderful things for the children in our family for Christmas.
I think I just prefer hand sewing.
So, whatcha making?

I'm working in Bristol one day this month and can scoot by and show you how to thread it if you like. I've taught myself crochet over Xmas because I want to make this: I have no idea why apart from it being pretty.

Oooh that'd be great, thank you. I love that, have you tried knitting/crochet before? I've never got the hang of it, just so cack handed. My sister made this

I like the pressie sack. I've been teaching myself crochet with the aid of a stitch and bitch book, makes it almost easy. I'm currently making a throw using granny squares. The house is covered in them.
Edit: with the Mentals on the rampage I'm not going to post personal photographs.

I'm making a blanket for my granddaughter to be. I'm just hoping I have it finished in time. Also bought a load of card making stuff today even though my craft room is in flux. I can't even get to my Cardmaking stuff. Attachments:

That's lovely Glen, when's the baby due?
I need a craft room, maybe that can be my incentive to get the spare room cleared.

I'm crocheting a hat that turns into a scarf and looks like a fox. Not sure I'm digging it at the moment though, it doesn't look big enough.

I'm not in the least bit artsy but I would like to learn how to knit so just I can make myself a really long wool scarf. I know my craft skills so a scarf would be about my limit!! If I start to learn now I might just about make one ready for next winter!

Sarah, it's never been easier to learn how to knit, crochet etc. My granny taught me to knit but I couldn't grasp crochet at all. I bought the Stitch and Bitch crochet book which was easy and informal to follow and I'm going great guns now. I've not seen the knitting book but it gets good reviews.
Jo recommended getting some expert tuition too. There's a website called Ravelry that's well worth joining as you can find knitting groups and classes near you. There's always beginners classes going on in great wool shops. etc.
A scarf is a great first project btw, before you try it get yourself some cheap as hell yarn to make all your mistakes on, I did that and my house is littered with little crochet samples right now. And then get some super chunky wool and big needles to make your scarf with and you'll be away in no time.
Jo is a much better knitter than I am but I'm more than happy to help with any queries.
Oh and get ready to fall in love with yarn; there's amazing stuff to play with out there, some great inexpensive stuff and some (like the hand dyed 4 ply merino that's sitting in my Colinette basket) that's making my wallet weep.

My craft room has all my stuff up there, but it is not set up yet. Ness is moving from her flat to a house (hopefully this week or next) and will then have room for all her clothes and crap that is still up there. I can organise it all properly then.

Because of my job I don't really feel like making much on my days off which is a shame. I do have a felt making workshop coming up soon which is always fun. It's wet felting so essentially we make a big mess and have a chat.

I've done cock all but my mum is amazing! Eve has countless knitted and crocheted hats with matching mittens, cardies, jackets, hoodies, a buggy blanket, a floor blanket. She got a wee hat with crocheted holly berries and leaves to wear at Christmas and everything. I'd show you pics but I can't fricking work that bit! I bloody love babies in handmade stuff. She gets a lot of inspiration from Ravelry Debs :-)
