I've been listening to a lot of old albums this week including this lovely little number by Mojave 3....... I saw these live at the Jazz Café in London and it was the first gig I'd ever been to on my own but I wouldn't have missed it for the world! Now they've reformed Slowdive, I don't think we'll be getting another Mojave 3 album in the near future, if ever again. Hard to believe their last record came out just a couple of months after This New Day. Although the thought of seeing Slowdive live makes up for this somewhat.

I know, I had not long got into them (your influence) and then that was it! I'm just so glad I got to see them live and in such a tiny venue too. I will definitely be keeping an eye out on what Slowdive get up to.

I've been giving this a go - Not my usual cup of tea, but I'm quite enjoying the sugary sweetness of some of it.

Her voice is so beautiful. Willow, as someone who likes the Goo Goo Dolls, you should listen to this EP by this band Beach Slang. Parts of it sound like it's right out of A Boy Named Goo/Superstar Car Wash. It's ten minutes long and sounds like summer. beachslang.bandcamp.com/

They're quite good, hope they write some more songs soon. Thank you

I know people have been less than enthusiastic with the new Elbow but trust me it's an earworm, the more you listen to it the better it gets and the more you want to listen to it, it has that rare quality of depth to it, layers that are not immediately recogniseable but it's a fine album, just not as immediately singalong and catchy as the last two. I bloody love it and, unusually for me, it didn't have to grow on me like most of their stuff has - this one was an instant hit Only just read the above (even though it was back in March!!!). i haven't bought it yet but when I saw them on TV, think it was BBC thing a while ago, I loved this album too and I heard one of the tracks when I was walking through shopping centre the other day and it reminded me that I must buy it. At present, listening to Embrace "Wonder" from their Fireworks album - it's nice.

Future islands and a promo of the royal blood album which is bloody tremendous, listening to a bit of George Ezra also he's good but all I can hear is Johnny cash guitar riffs

'Voices', the new album by Phantogram is getting a thorough going over at the moment. I really ought to check out their previous record as I like this one a lot. How to describe it... glitchy, electronic, unsettling, but also poppy. Does anyone still use the phrase 'trip hop'? It would probably apply here, reminds me a bit of Sneaker Pimps anyway.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=D4S2WiLJsFIStumbled on a band called Kill it Kid on the radio last week, this is their new single 'Caroline'. Had it on pretty heavy rotation. Brilliant tune and what a fucking voice...

Futurology. Manic Street Preachers.
I'm late to this party because I wax expecting it as a birthday gift but with one thing and another I didn't get it till a week after my birthday. I also got Elbow's most recent and in far less enamoured by this on one full listen whereas Futurology is utterly nailing it for me.

I've always found Elbow to be slow burners but this album grabbed me from the very second I heard the opening bars of track one. I flipping love it and them more than I can explain and I am properly excited about going to see them in a wee little venue in Vienna this Friday

The Elbow album is definitely a grower Glen, I was really underwhelmed with it, but it does take a good 3 or 4 listens to really sink in then you'll find it really sticking in your head.
Fururology is indeed great, wasn't really sure what to expect from it, but it really works and it's surprising that the Manics hadn't gone in that direction before, they ain't dead yet!

It's a bit more restrained than previous efforts, but I like it.
