a) Is it really worth the price? b) The website store doesn't state (at least not that I noticed) if this will be in limited quantities or not and if so, how many? Discuss.

a) Depends what you want from the album. For what you get in the boxset I think it is good value when you look at what other bands offer for similar priced ones. But then not everyone has £75 to spare or wants all the stuff included and are happy with just the CD/download.
b) I think Mickey said that initially there's a run of 500.

Cool, retlivdead, thanks. And nice to meet you. Think I may have to order it, I just hope they stay with 500 only! Long live Nirvana!

I think the content represents good value but I did wince a bit at the delivery cost.
Mickey did indeed say it was an initial run of 500 (I asked the question) and, perhaps selfishly, I hope that's all there are. Making something a limited edition to get people to buy it then making more if/when they sell out just seems a bit cynical to me. Before anyone shoots me down in flames, that's a general statement about limited editions and not aimed solely at this particular one.

Thanks, Lolli, and I agree. Should be 500 and no more, or 1000 and no more, or 1500 and no more, or whatever. Pick a number and stick with it. If it's used to attract fans into purchasing it and getting something extra special then you're absolutely correct that no more should be made....with any release by any band. It's not selfish to say 500, it's fair. Everybody in the world has the same chance to obtain a copy, you just have to order sooner rather than later. Some people will miss out but if they made 1000 or 1500, etc then somebody is always going to miss out unless you make it in unlimited quantities.

I think it really depends what you're after. If you just want the music with a nice little bonus then the deluxe cd will be perfect. If you want this nice box with the special artwork and special 7" vinyl then it's the boxset.
I ummed and ahhed over whether I could justify the price (not because I felt it was extortion or bad value) but I really wanted the artwork. Luckily my dad offered to buy it for my birthday and took the decision out of my hands.
