For the lucky few that went. What are your thoughts on them?

Personally I felt honoured to be asked to go. Was so excited. Got there early and listened to rehursal from the beer garden. Had a nice chat to MD and Rik. Gig was amazing. The new ones were wonderful. So good to hear some old classics. Long drive home with a huge smile. Thank you Embrace

Some bloody good secret keepers on here!
Incidentally I thought I was on the secret list so the invitees must be on a Double Secret Probation List!
(Not that I could have actually gone, so probably for the best that I wasn't invited)

it was a great night. I've woken up with Natures Law in my head. hearing new stuff for the first time live is an odd experience and in a very small setting it feels even odder but I've said on FB this... 234 were instant gratification tunes, I liked them right away. 6 is absolutely epic. and the oither two I think will be growers. I really can't wait to hear them again.

I was there last night too. I am SO lucky. And SO grateful that they asked me. I will never forget it. The old ones were sublime. I cried like a baby during Nature's Law. I was just so happy. The new ones were fantastic. I keep singing some of the lyrics this morning! And as for Retread.............oh my. Thanks so much to all involved. It was my pleasure and privelege to be there. xx

The whole thing was amazing. As I said on FB - well worth the 7 year wait. Song number 3 was just fantastic, instantly hit a nerve and I can't wait to hear it again. Song number 6 was, like Glen said, absolutely epic - a brilliant closer to the gig. I love the fact that the style has changed a little for the new stuff and they've taken pointers from the likes of Flaming Red Hair etc... not just stuck with the old format (although we all obviously love that else we wouldn't be here...). I don't think there was a new song that I thought couldn't/wouldn't be a hit, they were all fantastic. So grateful that I could be there and I just can't wait for the Embrace wheels to get moving again.
On a personal note, I loved seeing you all there too.... Here's to more merriments in the (hopefully near?) future!

I love FRH and was definitely vey happy for some more of that vibe. No 6 was a bit prog, a bit OON too and the climax to the song was just a killer. Couldn't stop watching Mike for the drums were immense.

It's funny how different we are. Song 4 nearly left me in a pile on the floor. Riks voice during that song was perfect.
Keeping live is amazing. The guitaring is wow.
Wonderful to hear retread again.
Shame we didn't get to meet the ones who went Wednesday. Plenty of time for that I suppose

I was delighted to be one of the lucky ones whose names were pulled out of a hat for these tiny gigs. Chuffed to bits in fact. We were told the gigs were hush hush and to keep them a secret, no easy thing when a lot of friends I stay in touch with online were met through Embrace.
For those who don't know, the gigs were at the Hop in Wakefield and were played to around 130 on Tuesday and 140 on Wednesday. Wednesday night kicked off with Madeleine and from there on in it's all a bit of a blur, though I remember there were six new ones in there - the last one potentially being this album's 'Out of Nothing' and one where Richard knocked everyone's socks off with unexpected lead vocals on what I thought was 'new song number 3' -I remember Gravity, Retread, Someday, Looking as You Are, Fireworks (cue tears)and AYGGP.
My few photos are shit. There's no video clips as the band don't want people to have their first listen of new songs where the audio will have been recorded poorly on a mobile. That's fair enough (and as an aside - please don't post any clips from the gig otherwise they'll be taken down and Admin will come after you...).
The band are as tight as fook and sounded fantastic - right close to the front was too close to hear properly (thanks for the vanishing act Splinter) so I'd a listen from further away.
The lovely Mickey was in a chatty mood afterwards so I thought I'd share some of what's coming soon:
Secret gigs: Lots of them. In ridiculous settings. Both Danny and Mickey alluded to 'dark.'
Forthcoming Tour: The band won't be touring until the album is released.
The new album: When asked by a joyous crowd when it'd be released the answer was 'soon' (Mickey's said on facebook that only an idiot would release an album between now and Christmas) so I'm taking that to mean 2014.
No more 'pussy ballads': Don't worry, you've still got the old ones, it's just there aren't any new ones on the forthcoming album.
Spread the word, Embrace are back, there are new songs and they're ace. Thanks guys, much love to you all. x
