It's always been OBF it has everything, power, excitement and rik vocals when i heard the new stuff i thought this is the stuff i want to hear, more punch, heavier sound and less ballads I really can't wait for the new album to hear more of Rik's vocals. He's sounded amazing the last couple of times I heard him, he said that he'd been practising loads. I think there are a couple of them that have potential to be new favourites.

Drawn From Memory. I always skipped this track thinking it was an instrumental, one day I went to the toilet when it came on instead of skipping and came back and thought wow!!! As if I have been skipping this track for months!

Tough call, possibly TGWO or Satellites for the reasons listed - gets you through tough days, & as someone else put, I'm 34 now and it has done since I was 18. Also dry kids for it's simple & beautiful melody & lyrics and the fact it always makes me wish it were longer - but then that's its beauty.

The End is Near is one of my absolute favourites. I'm not even sure why, something about the chords and when the guitar comes in and the drums, oh my gosh just all of it brings a tear to my eye.

Having just heard it I'm going to have to say Refugees. That may change when I get to hear the rest of the album.

Impossible to really pick one song but I guess gun to my head it might be Higher Sights.
The Good Will Out LP means so much to me - it literally changed my life and started this love (obsession?) of music. I remember when All You Good Good People started and thunders in with Danny's vow: "I'll stay right here and wait for good until I find a love worth mine." That line has stuck with me for the last 16 years and I think Higher Sights is the embodiment of it - not arrogance, but hope.
I recall a story Jo Whiley told that she had made a £20 bet with Danny about whether Higher Sights would get to number 1. Apparently years later she saw Danny and asked him to pay up as it never made the top spot. Danny refused to pay because as he said to Jo, "It still might".
That's Higher Sights.

The End is Near is one of my absolute favourites. I'm not even sure why, something about the chords and when the guitar comes in and the drums, oh my gosh just all of it brings a tear to my eye. Eight years on from This New Day, this is one of a few songs that I come back to regularly. The arrangement is great with that building intro part that repeats later, they come at the chorus a couple different ways, the lyrics are quite good for a song whose chorus is the same four words repeated over and over. The production is the best on the album, you can hear everything clearly, and Richard's guitar work really has that "The Edge" quality to it that I think they were going for. It's a song that really has an atmosphere to it. I remember in 2006 TEIN really developed a reputation as a great live song. There's a version on Happy and Lost from a Radio 1 session they did when Danny's voice was on the fritz, and Richard and Mickey are carrying him through it, and it's beautiful.

It's changed that many times it's a hard one.Theres that many that I absolutely adore.
If I had to pick the one though, I'd say • The End is Near"
It gives me goosebumps every single time.
As I said there's too many though, You're not alone, come back to what you know.....

I love reading these threads, and seeing how many different songs come up. That in itself is pretty special. Then reading about the personal reasons for each one, it's clear that this band have touched a lot of lives.
My favourite will probably change from month to month. Although I keep coming back to Retread. It hit me the first time I heard Danny sing 'Will you fight?'. He meant that.

I love 'Make it Last' and I don't really know why. I just love singing along to it and it makes me happy.
I also love Out of Nothing. It reminds me of Dean and his friend Fraser. Brings me back to the summer and gigs and good times. From a music point of view it's just fecking brilliant and anticipating Rick going crazy live is such a buzz.
'I Had a Time' reminds me of driving up the A60 with Shaz crooning our little hearts out on repeat.

I also love Out of Nothing. It reminds me of Dean and his friend Fraser. Yep Out Of Nothing would be my favourite as it reminds me of my wife, it was my message tone when we first started going out, and also my friend Fraser. I remember one drunken night in Ibiza where we sat on the balcony listening to this track on repeat whilst watching the sun rise. R.I.P buddy.

Great to see so many votes for The End is Near - a real classic.
For me it has to be Fireworks. Still as beautiful after all these years.

To me, my all time favorite is the single version of "I Wouldn't Wanna Happen To You". I truly love everything about it, it's just perfect to me. It's summer, happy vibe is unbelievable and the lyrics are far beyond from whatever I've ever considered beautiful in music. I get full of peace and calm every time I listen to it.

yeah I like retread, stong message in the lyrics about a past girlfriend by the looks of it, I like the start of the song and the way it hits the chorus, lets see you fight - makes you think there might just be some hope left in the world
