Just interested to hear your thoughts on "Follow You Home". Only heard it twice, but i think it's a decent follow up and love the layered vocals. Pretty sure it'll be a grower.

Sounds like "With or without you" by U2.

After reading all the great posts about it on the Embrace Facebook page, i rushed home after work to listen to it.... Its decent but not as good as a lot of people are making out. Never heard Embrace sounding so poppy!
P.S It sounds nothing like With or without you.

Sounds like "With or without you" by U2. How? Same chord progression for a start.

Here's where I am so far. I've been waiting for this album and tour for 7 years and no matter what I'm made up the boys are back and I can't wait to see them in May. That said there's been a lot of talk/hype from the band about this album - they say it took so long because they've made their masterpiece, the album that will finally top The Good Will Out.
Well I have to say, after the first two singles colour me sceptical. When I think of the lead singles from The Good Will Out you have Embrace classics like All You Good Good People, Fireworks and Come Back To What You Know and I haven't heard anything on that level from the new material.
It's not that I dislike either Refugees or Follow You Home it's that I don't LOVE them. I'm desperately trying to spread the word, to tell everyone I know about this amazing band who they need to pay attention to, but honestly neither of the first two singles is something that demand to be heard and refuse to be ignored. That said, I like the variety - Follow You Home is as upbeat and poppy as anything they've done which is a nice contrast to Refugees which was much darker.

I love it. They've never done the harmony between Danny and Richard quite like they're doing here, the verses are perfect pop, the lyrics are so so dark...people will come for the oh-ohs and stay for the coda. That guitar break is great. I kind of do hear where you're coming from with the With or Without You shout - it might be calling back to it a little bit. I also hear another song in there but I can't place it, mostly in the verses. I love the way Danny sings the chorus an octave lower before the coda.
The way the bass rips in before that last chorus by the way. I mean, fuck.
I also kind of love the Facebook stuff in the last few lyrics.
I do miss what they were doing in the live version that I heard at the Scottish shows - the first two oh-ohs of each chorus were up-down, like in the studio version, and the second two were down-up. Either way though, I love songs like this - perfect pop with a jammin' coda on the end. I had the biggest smile on my face the first time I heard Richard's guitar start up after the last chorus.

Yeah, don't like this one. Another awful middle 8. One Direction album track possibly.
Still better than World At Your Feet or Target though - thank Christ for small mercies.

Ha, I totally didn't get the facebook lyric. I've been confused as to why she'd write that on her (physical)wall. I can hear a bit of U2 in it, also the "oh oh's" are a bit one direction but that's not a bad thing. It's a great pop tune that should do well on the radio. I look forward to bouncing to and down to it in May.

Yeah, don't like this one. Another awful middle 8. Different opinions and all that but I think over the last couple of albums Embrace have really nailed it with several great middle 8s.

Big fan of the new song! It's very pop for them, but that's no bad thing. Can imagine it'd be great live.
The only downside for me is the guitar break - anyone else hearing the Mr Brightside riff?

I'm a bit in between all of the preceding comments. I didnt absolutely love it on first play but I do like it, and it's growing on me. It is very poppy for them but maybe that's not a bad thing. Mixing it up a bit.
Oh and the chord progression definitely sounds a bit like With or Without You. It also reminds me of a Kelly Clarkson song, which is a bit weird.
Finally... The bit where Danny sings "is there still hoooo-oooo-oooope" - BRILLIANT!

I'm gonna have a bit of a whinge here...
I'm new to this forum and have been a massive fan of Embrace for years. I heard Gravity once and bought their entire back catalogue, didn't regret it for a second. They are the last band on my original "Must See Live" list and will finally get to see them in May. The songs I've heard from this new album I've loved, even if this latest song breaks my cardinal rule of not simply repeating the same line to form a chorus. Why though, can I not get a free link to Follow You Home? I ordered the box set when it was announced and bought the Refugees EP, I'm slightly annoyed that you only get the single free if you pre-order via iTunes. Has anyone heard any differently?

Alright, which one of the band is a secret Kelly Clarkson fan?

This question was asked on one of the Facebook groups and Mickey said he was looking into it. Not sure there'll be anything that can be done about it mind, probably just a quirk of music publishing these days. Maybe they could provide a download code to anyone who pre-ordered, but I don't know how these things work.

Just listened all the way through for the first time, definitely can hear the 80s U2 influence especially at the end, and that's not a bad thing to my ears. Definitely will be a great singalong at future gigs, I really like it; very poppy yes, and not what I was expecting from Refugees and the B-sides but all the better for it. Light and shade people!
