Never too early for a December 25th thread.
Have you done anything Christmas-related yet? I started my cake this afternoon, the fruit is soaking in the brandy so I'm well on schedule and feeling a bit smug. I love Christmas but hate New Year.
Talk about Jesus's birthday here (or selection boxes and turkey sandwiches depending on where you stand with the religion business).

I'm locking this until the 24th of December. You know, when Christmas starts. Start a cake thread instead, tinsletoes.

This is really spooky as I almost sent you a message yesterday Joseph to ask if you'd started your cake yet. I enjoyed your cake feeding updates last year.
I'm off to Florida for Christmas this year. Never been abroad for Christmas before, just hope they still got some turkeys left.

Oh you're gonna LOVE Florida at Christmas!!! It's soooooo festive. It's a bit weird as it's warm (although the nights can get bloody cold in December, you wouldn't think it) but everyone gets in the mood and it's just a fab atmosphere. They go out on a limb for new year too, are you there for that? So jealous X

I wish I could make a cake - nowhere to bake or store it in the flat. How late can you make it and it still taste good? Hopefully I'll have moved early enough to join in!
I have begun collecting the gift guides, these are one of the highlights of the year for me, I love gift guides, despite the fact they are mostly full of stuff I'd never want!

It's all about the feeding with brandy and how much booze you want to put in it, you could get away with starting it six weeks before.

It was only earlier today I was thinking "yay, Christmas soon!" I don't know why I bother getting excited each year though, it's always a let-down.

Debbie!! Stop thinking about Christmas Seriously though, those knotted ornaments are WAY too cute. Make too many and sell some to me!! Kumi went a bit nuts with our tree last year but she got bored after a few climbs. Any low hanging baubles didn't last long but other than that we were ok. Attachments:

I have started on a gingerbread man garland We don't eat Christmas cake so there doesn't seem much point. I might make a wreath a different garland and some other bits. I need to buy some supplies for my cards.

Those are AMAZING!! (Hibbers, are you Lydia? I can't remember everyone's old board names!!!!). I am inspired to drag my sewing machine out from the cupboard under the stairs and learn how to use it.
Does anyone have any patterns for Christmas Cushions? Fancied putting some together but I know I better start soon else I'll never get around to it - like last year.

Yeah, it is I. Thank you.
I've found I like fiddly sewing, I don't know how to use a sewing machine, I have one so should learn.
DC I never did finish that cross stitch from 2007. I might one day.

The gingerbread garland is so cute! I would have to debuttonify it, but when I eventually have space to store a craft box, I'd love to make stuff like that.
Also - on Christmas magazines, I have managed to avoid these so far in my life, but I fear this might be the year I break. Going to the Ideal Homes Christmas show next month too (for free, except petrol), because I am well cool and can't quite get enough Christmas in my world

I chose a theme for my wrapping every year but am struggling this year. I've done the financial times, brown paper/string/cinnamon sticks/dried orange, Japanese newspaper, silver/sweets/bauble gift tags, and handmade white paper decorated bags over the past few years but I'm not inspired this year so far......

Wow, that's commitment, I am impressed! I have wrapped my presents in tshirts (mine, to come back to me), various real life magazines and carrier bags, but never as a "theme", more because I am a cheapskate and don't particularly like the wasteful nature of wrapping paper. Some of these are quite nice inspirationforhome.blogspot.co.uk/2011/11/20-creative-gift-wrapping-ideas-for.html but not sure if you've covered them all!

I love the ideas here, getting me in the mood :-). Re the wrapping paper ideas - my mum once made her own paper with collages of photos of the hunks. She just stuck a load of photos of them on the one sheet and then got the copy shop to photocopy a load of them in black and white. I was so bowled over and thrilled, I've treasured it to this day. Good work, mother! Might even give it a go myself this year. Friends of mine have done red and green handprints of all the kids on brown paper, also a winner.
We've started watching Father Christmas - the Raymond Briggs version, getting excited already!
