In all seriousness would singing lessons be a good idea for Danny?. no, he just needs back on the horse more regular and maybe give himself some recovery time

I've seen Embrace numerous times in the past but not for any of these comeback gigs yet. There was only one time when the vocals were awful but it seemed more like a monitor problem. They played Halifax and for the first 6-7 songs the vocals were totally out of tune. Not sure if they adjusted something but they improved after that and were ok for the rest of the gig. He's never been the best singer but I don't mind that, I love the emotion in his voice.

At the recent #SG21 i could definitely notice a change in Danny's voice. Slightly off key (as always, but never a problem - the emotion makes up for that), but noticed lots of delayed parts where (as someone else noted) he appears to struggle to get the words out. They're very noticeable on this interview: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUllcxxzTbU#t=61Several of the songs were performed excellently and the experience of seeing embrace live again was still amazing. I'd be lying if i said i didn't notice it and more so if i said i wasn't curious as to why this seems to be happening. However, as i've previously commented, i'm just pleased to have them back. Top bloke, top band.

Jeez!,He can barely speak in that interview. I definitely think he needs to come out and say something because the man is just embarrassing himself. He sounds like how Gareth Gates sounds when he is trying to ignore a tick!.

He does sound quite breathless at times which is concerning, could it be an anxiety thing?...on a positive note, he's already talking about another album to follow soon after this one!

The wife and i were discussing it and we felt it could be an anxiety thing rather than a physical thing as it seems to come and go and there's no sign on the tracks releases thus far(we're not professionals!). Let's hope he seeks a bit of help with it for his own confidence - genuinely is sad to hear a nice bloke struggling in one way or another.

I haven't heard that interview before but he's clearly struggling to get words out and sounds like he's developed a stammer. A kid I went to school with suffered with one for years but only seemed to get stuck on certain words (usually beginning with vowels). Even though Danny sometimes looks like he exudes confidence on stage you get the sense he is quite introvert and sometimes seems almost embarrassed or overwhelmed with his success. On Sunday I couldn't tell if he was struggling to get words out or if the microphone seemed to be cutting out at times. He seemed to sing some of the older stuff really well and quite naturally. I get the sense that he is someone that takes criticism quite badly but in this age of social media he'll have to rise above it, stick 2 fingers up to the doubters and crack on. He's a great bloke, hope he can get some help with whatever it is (Speech therapy possibly??) that is troubling him and move on.

I'm not certain but you can kind of hear it in Bullets I think "..I know the Huuurt you're in.."

I'm not certain but you can kind of hear it in Bullets I think "..I know the Huuurt you're in.." I think it's evident in the way that at times some of the lyrics sound like they are spat out as well. I recall Nick using that term in one of his recent pieces (possibly the album review) as well and wonder if that style of vocal was intended, or a consequence.

Be aring in mind I've seen (or heard) hardly anything live of them recently, I was shocked at Danny's spoken voice on Soccer AM. At times it was as if he was trying to speak yet the sound didn't kick in. It could be that it was early (for him) on a Saturday morning, but I fear not.

Not sure what the problem is, but there is definitely a problem with his voice when he talks sometimes. It doesn't seem to come across in the songs though which is good.

I'm starting to feel like a broken record.

I'm starting to feel like a broken record. I know, I'm half tempted to lock this thread because surely all that can be said has been, but people are entitled to their opinion and if we lock this I reckon another will spring up in its place. Danny has been open and revealed his PTSD, heart condition and tinnitus. In doing so he increased awareness of these conditions, helped charities and has encouraged others to speak out for the first time. I think he's been supported and thought of sympathetically too. I'm not a singer so I've no idea of what any issues could be. I know how I'd feel if I occasionally had difficulty calculating percentages or analysing data - I'd be doing my best to get my old skill back whilst hoping what I did the rest of the time made up for it.
