Mmmm. Richard on vox. Good idea - for the tune it is, I don't think it would have suited Danny's voice. But I'm not sure I get all the electronic stuff, it's not really "Embracey".
Still, good to have them back. I kinda lost interest after "Out of Nothing" and the travesty of an England Football song. Miss the days of Good Will Out and Drawn from Memory.

I think it's a direction they wanted to go in for a while but had to placate record companies, could be wrong but if you listen to the likes of Flaming Red Hair and other b sides it's certainly something they've toyed with for quite a while. I personally love the electronic stuff.

I personally love the electronic stuff. Maybe, and they should go the way they want to. It just doesn't sounds like a band performing, (except maybe Mickey's piano). It sounds like it was all made on a Macbook.

More importantly, where's that place that girl is sitting with her dog? I feel compelled to visit there and sit and watch the sun go down / city light up as in the video. I'd certainly enjoy listening to the song more with a backdrop like that...

It's bloody fantastic! Been listening to it in work all day. It has a new kind of vibe to it and i was a little bit worried at first, but the more the song progresses the more it feels like Embrace and the reasons why I became so besotted with them as a teenager, the last minute of the track is just typical Embrace instrumental sounds, one of the reasons I love them so much is them outros in certain songs. Cannot wait for the album and tour!!!!! It's been a long time coming and they've come back to what they know! Was it worth the wait?? You bet it was! Welcome back boys!!!

Woah, this is a complex beast of a tune. First listen, it just kind of swam around in my head. The beat, Richard vocals, what's the lyric there, lots of electronic influence coming in, the beat changes, is that the chorus?, Danny!, hold on I'm not sure about the TND-esque 'woahohs' at the end.....but yeah, this one will definitely need a while to sink right in there. Deep.

This track is absolutely fantastic live. When they played it at SG#20 you just couldn't help but jump up and down for me it was the track of the evening. A further plus point is my 10 year old daughter thinks it's epic!! There's hope!

The bit on the hillside is beacon hill in Halifax! Bit of a landmark round here and not far from where the lads live.

Are their any lyrics anywhere yet? Can't make them all out properly yet. Thank you The snow on the screen we're going light speed tonight Like Bonnie & Clyde except we don't die tonight And the blister packs coats and crumpled up notes appear It's a break from the swill, the piss they distill around here A break from the swill, the piss they distill around here.... Lift off of this Metropolis When this town comes down, I wish I wish My first degree emergency Is kettled by your cavalry, I wish I wish The cash machine queens when ambulance teams arrive In their skeletal jeans they take Refugees for wives when their collars get felt their glorified belts won't keep 'em warm and we'll run up the strand, your wrist in my hand we know we're born yeah I know, I'm born yeah I know I'm born Lift off of this Metropolis When this town comes down, I wish I wish My first degree emergency Is kettled by your cavalry, And when all of your friends are my enemies wishing me gone as I'm running away And my only defence is the worst of me Out in the open for all to survey When you settle for less than I promised you Knowing that all of our barrels are scraped If it seems like it's harder to say to you It's cause some things are just harder to say Lift off of this Metropolis When this town comes down, I wish I wish My first degree emergency Is kettled by your cavalry, I wish I wish

Have to admit I am struggling to hear the lyrics.
Not immediately grabbing me this one but the best songs never do.
With the imminent return of he band I put on a playlist of all the embrace albums at the weekend, got pretty emotional, the band brings so many memories to me.
Great to have you boys back.

Love it! It's probably not the best song they've ever done, but maybe it'll grow on me more. I can't really make out the lyrics either. But radio DJs and people seem to be rating it so that's a good sign! I really really really hope they get to number one with it, I've been waiting eight years for that!!

It's a grower, but it hasn't grabbed me by the balls just yet. It's having a little tickle.
Personally, I don't think the song needs Danny's vocals. Feels like that bit's been added at a later date. Should be 100% Rik, but that's just my opinion.

I love the bit where Danny comes in, it sounds perfectly like Embrace and it's the bit where you realise yes they really are back! It makes me feel a bit nostalgic for seven years ago, hearing Nature's Law for the first time and all the other singles.
