I love Embrace. Have done since day one. Can't remember how many times I've been to see them. Missed them greatly, thought we had lost them if I'm honest.
My musical taste has changed since I first listened to Embrace, and personally I wasn't hoping for the Embrace of old. This, for me, is a perfect return. Has everything I look for in a song, and hope the album sounds similar. Can't wait to hear it live and see the boys again in February. Also cannot wait to hear some of the songs I grew up to.
Everything changes, embrace it.

What did 6 music say about it tonight? Were they complimentary? Not at all. But apparently they barely like any songs on that show.

I dunno. It's difficult when one of your favourite bands releases a new song. People tend to be either over the top with their praise or overly critical.
If this had of been the new coldplay song what would peoples reaction have been?
I heard a song on the radio the other day and for the first thirty seconds it sounded like Death Cab. Then I realised it was James Blunt and it totally changed the way I thought about what I was listening to.
One of the things I love about Embrace are the lyrics. They can break your heart or lift your spirits. You can sing along in the car on the way to work. I don't get that with the new song because I'm really struggling to hear the song.
It's good tune but annoyingly would have been so much better if I could hear the words.
Maybe I'm just getting old!?

Is that a female singer I can hear backing Danny's bit?

And here is where I think the problem may be with the general, non Embrace, music public.
Folk love to sing along, they love a song that they can relate to, I fear the boys may have missed a trick with the muffled vocals as you can't really sing along after a couple of listens, in fact I still can't work out 80% of the words and I've hammered the track for the past week.

I agree, struggling to make out quite a bit of the words, even with the lyrics posted on here. It's a great tune and I really like it, just would have liked a bit more clarity on the vocals.

Like, but don't love.
Certainly hasn't grabbed me like so many of the truly great Embrace songs...
The very best, sound like i've always known them. (The first time i heard Fireworks, it felt like a song i already had in my head, but couldn't quite grasp.)
Really hope i connect better with the rest of the album, otherwise the long wait will go on.
PS. The video is definately a tad child-abductiony. Might not have been so bad if the kid wasn't wearing a dressing gown?

I stand by what I said before on this subject: Rik is saving Danny, very possibly him from himself. This may make more sense if you put the video in context with the lyrics. Just wait til you hear the new stuff live, it's BIG

He's 39, but I always see him as a child when he's suffering. IMO the music videos have rarely been the boys strong point, but i'll take Embrace over any other band from the last 15 years. Can't wait for the new Album and some new gigs!! How the hell are they going to cram everything into a setlist now!??

Agree with this mate, it's been bothering me. Most casual fans I've talked to immediately go "auto tune" - that can't be good. I'm sure they could have sang it fine without, but the average punter may not give them the benefit of the doubt.

I don't understand why it's auto-tuned to be honest. Richard can sing perfectly fine by himself.

I've thought about why it’s nagging me (makes a change from the Mrs) as it never did when I listened to stuff such as Ride, MBV etc. Think it’s because I want the boys to do well and think they have missed a trick on this one.....hope I'm wrong......I wish.....I wish.
